This Week's Message
Making Disciples His Way “Be Like Me”
Bob Childress Matthew 10:1, 5-15, John 21:7, 15-19, Matthew 28:18-20
Sermon outline for 9/20/26
1. How Jesus Entrusted His Disciples
* Matthew 10:1, 5-15 – Sending ____________ by _______________
He told them…
Where not to go Vs. 5 ................... Where to go Vs. 6
What to say Vs. 7 .......................... What to do Vs. 8
What not to do Vs. 9 ..................... What not to take Vs. 10
When to stay Vss. 11-12 ...................When to leave Vss. 13-14
* John 21:7,15-19 – Entrusting Peter ___________ denials, ___________ questions, ___________ commands
* Matthew 28:18-20 – He commanded them to ____________ _______________
2. Three keys for entrusting disciples corporately in the church.
* Champion entrusting wherever you see it occurring in the church.
* Personally enter the entrusting process whenever possible.
* Rejoice and covenant to support and pray for those your church has entrusted for ministry in the church or elsewhere.
Entrusting Defined: We increasingly and intentionally involve equipped disciples with ministry here and abroad.
Questions for Discussion and Application
1. What are things you have learned about the discipling process in our series that will help you be a more effective discipler?
2. The entrusting process takes time. Think back on how the entrusting process developed with your children. How did you increasingly entrust them with responsibilities in the family setting?
3. What does the account of Peter’s restoration seen in John 21 teach us about the entrusting process?
4. What are some of the unique life experiences God could use to move into the lives of others?
5. How does the entrusting process assist us in raising up effective servants and ministers in the church?

Community Prayer
We join together in the spiritual practice of prayer. Here's what our church family is lifting up this week:
SUNDAY - Father, we praise you today that you are our strength and our song and our salvation (Exodus 15:2). We thank you that you have redeemed us in your steadfast love.
MONDAY - Almighty God, the King of creation, we thank you for salvation, health, protection, sustenance and defense. We praise, exalt and glorify you as the King of Heaven (Dan. 4:37).
TUESDAY - Jesus, we depend on you to save us from sin and we pray for your forgiveness. We know that nothing we can do can meet the law’s demands and that you alone can cleanse us from the guilt and power of sin. You are our spiritual Rock of the ages giving us living water (1 Cor. 10:4).
WEDNESDAY - Father, we pray today for unity within your church. As your people, the Bride of Christ, we pray that the world will know we are your disciples because we love one another. We pray for the kind of love that bears fruit (John 15:16-17).
THURSDAY - Father, we pray today for wisdom in a world that sometimes follows the foolish. We ask for discernment that we might recognize and follow your way instead of the way that appears to be right but leads to death (Proverbs 14:12).
FRIDAY - Father, we pray today for miracles in our lives and in the lives of our loved ones. None of us are physically perfect and we could all use a miracle in our bodies that could use your miraculous touch but it’s the spiritual deficit in us that needs the miraculous turning of our wandering hearts to you.
SATURDAY - Father, we pray today that you would provide us with giving spirits. Let us be always ready to help those in need. Help us to be grateful for what we have and to remember that every good and perfect gift is from you (James 1:17).
